Wizard of Legend was developed by Contingent99 and was released on May 15, 2018 for $15.99 it is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Wizard of Legend is a dungeon crawler that takes place in a procedurally generated world meaning every time the map layout will be different. Although it doesn’t have online multiplayer it does have couch co-op as well as a single player campaign.
Wizard of Legend is a tough game. There are many different enemy types there are enemies that turn invisible as well as enemies that do different elemental attacks each with varying attacks and abilities. The game also rewards you for going out of your way to explore the areas around you. Every victory you come across is well earned and gives you motivation to continue on.
Past the tutorial there really isn’t much of a story but instead you’re given a random dungeon layout and told to find the boss and kill it. You are given arcana (spells) which can help you on your quest to kill the final boss there are 4 different types of arcana: basic, dash, standard and signature. I found the game to be overly brutal at times and I constantly found myself dying due to being heavily outnumbered.
Overall I would rate this as Outstanding. The game is challenging at times and some deaths aren’t even your fault by the way the randomized dungeon was built. However I do love the soundtrack and the way it rewards exploration and I found what little story there was to be very intriguing.
