Have you ever lived next to a nightclub or a biker clubhouse or … just some noisy neighbor who just won’t shut up? Have you ever imagined being able to shut them all up in a more permanent way? You know, if you did ... that would be illegal ... UNTIL NOW!!!
Welcome to PARTY HARD 2!
Party Hard 2 is a throwback to the old 8-bit days. Personally, I think this really works for the game in general. However ... a more modern port might not be a bad idea. Just a suggestion.
You are a lowly apartment dweller who lives in a city with a rather rowdy nightlife. Nightclubs full of drug dealers and back alley arms deals and just rude biker gangs run a muck as soon as the sun goes down. Apparently, one night, this gets the better of you and you decide it is time to do something about it ... and hopefully not get caught by the official police force.
You can take control of cars and run people over. Use your handy knife to come up behind someone and silence them (but be sure there’s no one else around and you must hide the body.) You can throw bottles, Molotov cocktails and other items to knock out or silence people. Or, if you want to get real sneaky and cause a lot of panic, mess with nearby electronic equipment to cause an explosion, silencing most people in the vicinity. This became a personal favorite of mine.
Your controls are your usual keyboard gaming controls. W, A ,S ,D for movement. Various other buttons for item use, picking up items, as well as aiming and throwing. Personally, I had some trouble with what I felt too many buttons needing to be pushed on the keyboard. Thankfully, there’s the option to use a controller. So I popped in my trusty DUKE controller and I had a BLAST with this game.
Tip: There are some interesting “cameos” in this game. So far I’ve seen someone who looks a lot like my favorite anti-heroin, Harley Quinn, and I’ve been beaten up and I think killed by something resembling a naked terminator.
If it wasn’t for my own frustration with the keyboard controls, I’d give this game a 4.5 out of 5. As it is, I found it a great and rather refreshing distraction from other games I’m so used to playing. It’s not a game I’d binge-play. But it is one I’ll pick up from time to time to play as a distraction. I give this game an outstanding!
