When you're not messing with Guu ma over who has control of the radio, Road to Guangdong is a relaxing driving sim placed between a variety of short stories. It offers a look into the 90's era when things felt fresh and new.
At times, feelings of nostalgia pop up when driving through the different environments with your passengers by side. The gameplay portions of Road to Guangdong are entirely first person driving. Turn the ignition and use the headlights (small circle dial). You can can also stop the engine and click on the door to be able to tune up the car.
You will have to utilize the different gauges as you drive or the vehicle will receive more damage and consumption. This makes it so you have to drive at a moderate pace and just enjoy what the game offers. At times I felt I may have been going the wrong way but was not. The game mainly features a single road to travel through different towns.
The challenge of Road to Guangdong is all about balance. Cash is used to purchase certain parts and resources. You can build cash by completing the stories as well as interacting with stops to scavenge parts and then selling those parts. If you run out of cash, the game will fail so be sure to scavenge and sell what you can. There is some collecting portions of the game also.
Overall Road to Guangdong has relaxing gameplay that gives an enjoyable experience.
