Steelrats review

When I made the decision to review SteelRats, I was expecting a normal, run of the mill arcade shooter, but BOY WAS I WRONG.

This almost 3D game (2.5D) is to say the least, a beautiful game to look at while terrorizing the streets on your bladed front wheel causing mayhem and killing robots, cutting through objects (small and large) as you do it. This fast arcade, shooter game does have hints of some puzzles to it as you attempt to find pieces of the story scattered throughout the the levels.

The game is developed by Tate Multimedia and is available to you on Steam for $22.79, PS4 for $19.99, and Xbox for $14.99 (which is a steal for the Xbox version, which is what we are testing it on today).

Drive your way through city streets, rooftops and the docks to collect parts to enhance your skills by cutting your way through obstacles or enemies or by doing tricks in the air , these parts will allow you to better customize your player, which includes.

  • Amazing level design accompanied by a play style based on combination of combat, platforming and riding a bike.

  • Great behind the game Story

  • Game Secrets scattered throughout the game.

  • Have your choice of 4 characters to ride with

  • 28 levels beautiful levels

  • 84 upgrades to enhance your gameplay.

  • Motorbikes with different and unique characteristics and play

The game plays very nicely with my standard Xbox One controller, and the speed and excitement of the gameplay kept me intrigued as I worked through an onslaught of robots and enemies and obstacles. Not to mention riding up the sides of buildings and ceilings was a nice added touch.

The controls are exactly what you would expect, the standard left trigger for brake or reverse, right trigger for the left and right bumps are used to activate special features, like clinging to the wall or ceiling to gain power for your weapons.

I don't necessarily have anything too negative to say, in my opinion the only real negative is that, to me, the levels felt a bit short, especially in the beginning.

I do recommend that you play this on your choice of console or PC.
